Epson 4880 Based Garment Printer Error 1001D

The 1001D error is normally generated on an Epson 4880 printer because the carriage motor is reporting an incorrect voltage being applied to the motor. There are several instances that can cause this.

If the print head carriage assembly is obstructed in some way (problem with capping assembly possibly) it is applying more voltage than normal to move it out of the capping assembly. If the upper carriage assembly is dirty with ink overspray, etc. it is doing the same thing.

Generally, when 1001D errors start to occur, you may get by them by nudging the upper carriage assembly out from the capping station during start-up.

If the carriage belt tension is too loose or too tight the motor is then trying too hard to move the assembly which can also cause this error.
