Cartridge not recognized as OEM
I received a full set of cleaning cartridges for my iDOT. Installed them and ran a Power Clean. Recv'g a msg that there wasn't enough ink, so I went to the Ink Resetter function. This screen reported the #5 cartridge was not OEM and I had to accept responsibility for damage, etc. to continue.
This allowed me to continue with the Power Clean, however, the bar graph showing remaining fluid shows empty for the #5 slot (it's actually brand new and nearly full).
What can i do to resolve this mistake?
The IDOT does not actually read the amount of ink that is in the cartridges. Instead M&R has installed ink reset boards with ink chips to the backside of the IDOT. This is where the ink levels are read. In reality the ink levels the Epson reads is not accurate to what is in the cartridges. To keep any ink messages from coming up, the IDOT user MUST reset these ink chips daily. Yes they will always read full.
To get the #5 reading back to standard, you must order a new #5 ink chip. If you are under the warranty still it will be cover but shipping will not be.
You can either contact me personally and I will help you get this chip ordered or you may contact our parts department directly. If you contact parts just let them know you need to replace the #5 ink chip for your IDOT printer.
What happens if I do not install a new #5 ink chip? Even if I have a full #5 cartridge, will the dysfunctional ink chip prevent dispensing of the fluid in any way?
No, it will not stop that channel from printing. What will happen is every time you reset the ink chips, daily, you will need to bypass the message that will come up for this channel.
